There are many adventurers in Macedonia, nature lovers, mountain lovers, people who simply love active tourism. This country has a huge potential for the development of active tourism. During the winter you can experience the active tourism at the ski resorts, and in the spring and summer with kayaking, mountain biking, paragliding and many other activities.

Many people in Macedonia decide to replace the hustle and bustle of the city with the silence and peace of the mountains and live the rest of their lives there.

There are many such stories and today we decided to single out one of them, the story of Vlatko. He spent most of his life in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, but a few years ago he decided to retire early and leave the city for the mountain.

The vastness of the Macedonian mountain, the hidden Macedonian beauties, the snow and the nature were the reason that prompted him to move from Skopje and start a new life there.

There he renovated the old cottage built by his father where first he lived alone, but now he is never alone because of the guests who visit him and spend a weekend there.
In Mavrovo, he is engaged in active tourism and there he has all the necessary equipment that he rents to all those young and inexperienced adventure lovers, eager to learn how to ski, snowboard, kayak, SUP or mountain bike. According to Vlatko, training them is the only way that they will be able to truly feel the region and the benefits of active tourism.

His purpose is to show all the guests that visit him the real picture of that region with all its beauty. Everybody knows Mavrovo because of the ski center, but for him Mavrovo is a wonderful place every day of the year.

Macedonia is a safe destination when it comes to active tourism.

The sparsely populated mountains and their spaciousness isolate tourists from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our country has fantastic landscapes, wild and untouched nature. On the other hand, the spaciousness of the Macedonian villages that are attractive to tourists provides them with the comfort and the safeness they need during their research and for the picture to be complete we shouldn’t forget to mention the homemade healthy food that is prepared in the villages and whose taste is simply irresistible.
